what to do when you are missing a word
While knowing all the words you need to use regularly is realistic, you are never going to know every single word you might need. Therefore, it is important you accept there will be (possibly often) situations when you don't have the exact word you are looking for and that this is no big deal.
When I first work with clients, they often get half-way through a sentence, realise they are missing a word and either get panicked, or totally frustrated, and then just stop speaking. Instead, if you get halfway through a sentence and can't find a word- don't panic, stop to think, and either describe the word or find a different way to say the sentence. If you get really stuck, it is also quite OK to say, "I'm just going to look up a word". If you have your phone ready this will take less than ten seconds.
