Using Quizlet for learning vocab
If you have never used Quizlet before, I recommend watching this video first.
And here is a summary of the key points:
Getting started with Quizlet:
Set up a Quizlet account at www.quizlet.com. The free version will give you everything you need😊.
You record your vocab in ‘Flashcard sets' (Lernsets' in German). To create a new set, click on the ‘+’ icon in the top right-hand corner.
Write the German (or your native language) word in the left-hand column. Set the right-hand column to English, Quizlet should then come up with suggested translations.
Tips for practising:
Quizlet can be overwhelming and frustrating at first. However, be patient. Once you've learnt how to use it, it is a really great tool.

Tips for practising:
- I recommend keeping Sets small, around 20 words.
- If you only want to practise certain words, star the words you want to practise (click on the star in the top right-hand corner of the flashcard). Then go to settings and select 'Study starred terms only'
- As well as flashcard mode, I also like ' written test'. To do this click on 'test', select 'written' and de-select 'multiple choice'.
- Don't forget you can also listen to the pronunciation: just click on the microphone icon in the top right-hand corner of the card.
